2.3 Creating a New Assignment

Assignments can be made up entirely of your own assessments, imported assessments, or a combination of both. In this section, you will learn how to create a new assignment. For information on how to create individual questions, see 2.4 Creating Questions/Assessments, and for information on how to import questions, see 1.6 Importing Questions.

You can also import an existing assignment from an ADPT course to your course. For detailed instructions, see 1.5 Importing Assignments. Note that importing an assignment does not allow you to edit questions. The only way to edit a question you did not create is to clone it. For detailed instructions, see 2.5 Cloning and Editing Questions.

Steps to Create a a New Assignment

  1. Open your course and select the "New Assignment" tab.
  2. Add the details to your assignment properties. The screenshot below shows just a few of the fields that can be entered. If you are uncertain about the meaning of any text entry fields, hover over the question mark to get a short description. It might take some time to understand how to best customize your settings. For further guidance, you are encouraged to watch the video tutorial included on this page and to attend one of the twice-weekly office hours sessions offered by LibreTexts Links to an external site..
  3. Select Save to create the assignment. Adding questions to an assignment is covered in 2.6 Building Your Course and Assignments.
