You can edit any question that you create from scratch by clicking the pencil icon to the right of the question. In order to edit a question that was created by someone else, you most clone that question first. This makes a copy of the question in your ADAPT account and allows you to edit that copy. You can clone questions from the questions bank or from a course that is in Commons or published as Public.
The question bank has more than 200,000 questions and new questions are being added every day. To search for and clone a question follow these steps:
From the Dashboard menu choose Search Questions
Search by class, content, technology, ADAPT ID, Title, Author, tag, or a combination of these. Some of these options are drop-down menu items and others allow you to enter text. Click the question mark next to a heading to learn more about that search field. Once your search criteria is in place, click Update Results.
You will see the ADAPT ID in the left column of your results. The copy icon here is only to copy the ID not to clone the question. You must click on the question title to preview it and access the clone button.
Click the Clone icon next to "View Solution" to clone the question so you now have an editable copy. You will again also see an option to copy the ADAPT ID.
Choose the folder in which you want it to reside or create a new folder. You can also add the question to a course and assignment at this time, but this is optional.
Use the dashboard to navigate to "My Questions". The cloned question will be in the folder in which you saved it. You will now see the pencil icon in the Actions column allowing you to edit the question.
Go to the next tab to learn how to Clone from a Public or Commons Course.
Cloning from a Public or Commons Course
There are hundreds of courses in a variety of disciplines that appear as public and/or in the ADAPT Commons. Note that all Commons courses are also listed in the Public library. To search for and clone questions from these courses follow these steps:
From the Dashboard menu choose Public Courses or Commons.
Public courses can be searched by discipline, course title, author, or school. Commons courses can be searched by discipline, title, or description. The screenshots below provide an example from Commons. Click update to see results.
From your search results, click the title of the course to access the assignments and questions associated with the course.
The table that appears includes the name of each assignment, the number of questions in the assignment, and a short description (if it was provided by the original creator). Click on the title of the assignment to access its questions.
Each question appears on its own page and are listed in numerical order. You will see the ADAPT ID under the assignment name and above the numerical links to each question. The copy icon here is only to copy the ID not to clone the question. Instead, click the Clone icon above the question to clone it so you now have an editable copy.
Video Tutorial: Favoriting and Cloning Questions
This video shows how to add questions to your My Question dashboard in ADAPT by favoriting and cloning them. Favoriting a question is a way to mark and question for later, where cloning a question copies it and allows you to edit the properties and code.
