Unit 1 Overview

This unit focuses on how Canvas works, from both the student view and the instructor view. You will learn the basics of how Canvas works by filling in a couple of online forms to create course material.

By the end of this lesson, participants will be able to

  • Build a community of online learners through participation in a discussion forum
  • Help students connect with you by updating your profile and sharing your communication preferences
  • Create an Announcement to share course news with students  

To meet the objectives of this lesson, you will complete the following activities and assessments:

  1. Read the Instructional Content:
    "What Is Canvas"
    "Canvas from the Student View"
    "Canvas from the Instructor View"
    "Rich Content Editor"
  2. Perform the "Edit Profile" hands-on activity
  3. Perform the "Add Announcement" hands-on activity
  4. Complete the "Unit 1 Quiz" 
  5. *Optional* Participate in "Canvas Klatch Links to an external site."
