Getting Started with Flip Grid
You will be using a tool called Flipgrid to complete some of the assignments in this class, starting with our Meet n' Greet assignment. Flipgrid is an asynchronous video discussion tool. It provides the important flexibility of a asynchronous (time-shifted) discussion forum, allowing you to participate at a time that works for your schedule, but enhances the discussion with the rich human presence of video. We will be able to hear the nuance in each others' voices and read the expressions on our faces as we share and discuss. Flipgrid has auto-captioning built in too (this is an emerging technology that isn't perfect yet, but is getting there!).
To participate in our Flipgrid, you will need one of the following:
- A computer or Chromebook with a webcam OR
- A smartphone or tablet connected to the internet
If you would like to participate using your mobile device:
- Download the free Flipgrid app from the Apple Store or Google Play
- Open the app
- In the box "Enter a Flip Code," type the code that appears at the top of the assignment page.
To participate from your computer, please follow the steps illustrated in the 4-minute video below. If you have questions, please share them in the Q&A Discussion forum.
