Content Sequencing in PowerPoint

Accessible Sequencing

An important aspect of ensuring the accessibility of your PowerPoint presentation is making sure the content is presented in the correct order.

The Outline view provides a quick check for verifying things are in the proper order.

Using unique slide titles will help users keep track of which slide they are viewing.

Use the Arrange tool to access the Selection Pane and fine tune sequencing of content- but remember it displays everything in reverse order (available in locally installed versions of PowerPoint only).

Check Your Sequencing

NOTE: The following is only possible with a locally-installed version of PowerPoint, it is not supported in PowerPoint Online (Office 365).

To check and alter the sequencing of the content in your PowerPoint slides:

  1. Start with the Home tab exposed.
  2. Find the Drawing tool group.
  3. Click on the Arrange menu.
  4. Choose "Selection Pane".
  5. Select any item in the list and use the Re-order arrows to move it up or down in the list.

Remember that the Selection Pane lists the content in reverse order, so the first item is the last in the list.
