Video and Audio in PowerPoint

Accessible Video Content

PowerPoint 2016 allows you to use videos with closed captions and multiple audio tracks, which enables the capability to support audio description. You will need to ensure that your digital video is properly produced and encoded to provide proper functionality.

Accessible Audio Content

Audio files require a text transcript to make them accessible. It is recommended to include your text transcript as an accompanying digital file, but you can also embed the transcript in the Notes field.

Converting PowerPoint to Video for Accessibility

Sometimes a presenter is able to provide rich and detailed descriptions of all the content contained in their slides to the point where you can record the presentation with Camtasia and then transcribe the narration to create a transcript and captions. Depending on the number of slides and the number of non-textual elements that need to be described, converting a PPT to video can sometimes save time.

If you are using captioned video or video with multi-track audio in your presentation, the captions and extra audio tracks will not be included in your video.
