Mind Body Dualism

Overview:

We are now entering into a very cutting edge field of philosophy - philosophy of mind. Here, philosophers look at the relationship between the mind and the body, the nature of consciousness, and the issue of whether computers could have a mind.

In this week's reading by Patricia Churchland, play close attention to the arguments for dualism. Ask yourself whether you have a mind and a body, have just a body, or whether there might be a third alternative.
