The Problem of Evil
Overview:
Philosophers have been looking at what is called the problem of evil for as far back as ancient Greece. The problem arises when one sees an apparent contradiction between having an all-loving God and having the amount of pain and suffering in the world as we do. This pain and suffering is thought of as natural evil (such as earthquakes and floods) and moral evil (such as murder and genocide). In this week's reading, pay close attention to whether there is a good way to solve the problem of evil.
