The Benefits of Virtual Labs

Virtual labs benefit both students and instructors.

They can supplement onsite, wet lab experiences by allowing students to practice experiments before they do the real thing, and get virtual lab time if physical lab time is impacted.

For courses offered fully online, virtual labs can provide equivalent experiences to physical labs, and even offer experiments that could never be offered in a college laboratory (e.g., if expensive equipment is required or if dangerous materials are being used).

Virtual labs also benefit students who cannot or prefer not to attend college in person, due to work, family, disabilities, or other reasons.
