I'm an OERL - What does that mean?
OERL Expectations
During the course of the OERI's 1st round of OER Liaison Orientations, we received many suggestions for additional resources that the Liaisons were needing and we heard a pretty basic question from some of you - what should I be being if I am an OER Liaison (OERL)? As our OERLs come to us with a range of experiences, we reasoned that we should develop resources that honor that - and meet you where you are at. With that in mind, we offer the following resources tailored to our beginning, intermediate, and advanced OERLs.
- The OERL beginner is the individual that is new to acting as an OER advocate. The beginner may not be known locally as someone with an interest in OER and is comfortable admitting that they have a fair amount (if not a lot) to learn. We look forward to assisting these OERLs in developing an understanding of their local OER opportunities and challenges with respect to OER. Our Tasks for the OERL Beginner truly begins at the beginning - where do you start if you are a truly new OERL?
- The intermediate OERL is known to be an OER user or an active advocate at the college, but may or may not previously been in a formal OER role. These OERLs know the basics of OER and probably have a sense of their college's OER-related challenges. Our Tasks for the OERL Intermediate recognizes the foundation that these OERL's have and provides guidance for taking their advocacy to the next level.
- The advanced OERL is likely to hold a local OER-related position or to be involved in a related effort (such as ZTC). Our Tasks for the OERL Advanced focuses on helping these established OER leaders take their advocacy to the next level.
