Introduction to OER for Economics
Introduction
Welcome to the ASCCC OERI Resource Page for Economics. This space is intended to provide faculty in the discipline with a collection of resources that have been subject to a peer-review process and/or that have been selected for use by faculty in the California community colleges. In addition to providing you with access to resources, this is also a place to interact with your colleagues.
The pages will be built as a collaborative process. Please let us know if you are using one of these resources (or a different resource) and we will add that information to the page. Also, please let us know if you'd like to add a resource to the list. Suggested ASCCC OERI Resource Form. (Links to an external site.)
The discipline was surveyed in 2018. The results can be found here Download here.
Current Status of the Discipline
At the community college, there are two primary courses taught in economics: Principles of Microeconomics and Principles of Macroeconomics. In some colleges there are Introduction to economics courses which survey both micro and macro and there are Statistics courses for Economics majors. The economics discipline serves economics majors. However, another significant role of the two lower-division courses is to serve business majors. Below you will find the course outlines for the two primary courses as well as information about OER materials available when teaching these courses.
