• Wednesday, September 11, 10:00 am: OER Liaison Orientation(Links to an external site.) Links to an external site.
  • Join us for our first OERL event of the term and academic year. In this webinar, we will review the 2019 Fall OER LiaisonExpectation, discuss how your activities will be tracked, and share all of our plans for the year. We also want - and need - to hear from you.
• Friday, September 27, 10:00 am: SB 1359 - What is it? What does it mean? How are campuses doing it?(Links to an external site.) Links to an external site.
  • SB 1359 requires CCCs to designate “no cost” course sections in their online schedule. We'll look at the requirements of the bill, discuss the intentions and implications of this requirement, and look at how colleges across the state have implemented this. What does it mean to be “compliant” with SB 1359?

  • We oriented you along with our "seasoned" OERLs, but perhaps you are wanting a little more. Why do we have OERLs? What is the OERI and why have you signed up to join us? And while we're together - how can we help? This session is designed for the OERL who is seeking more background on the OERI and his or her role in advocating for OER.

  • If knowing that OER will save students money is not a compelling enough reason to motivate your faculty to consider OER, how can you “make the case” to OER-resistant faculty? This session will explore existing data that can be employed - and discuss the data that you can gather locally. Can you document the impact of OER on student success? We think so - let’s discuss the how.

  • What the heck are you doing as and OERL? Can you – do you – send e-mail to all of your faculty? How do you develop buy-in and how do you identify your targets? Join us to share strategies and plan your local advocacy efforts.
• Wednesday, December 4, 1:00 pm: Establishing an OER Committee/Task Force/Work group at Your College  (Links to an external site.) Links to an external site.
  • This session provides information and resources to help colleges implement an OER Committee, Taskforce, or Workgroup on their campuses. The webinar presents an OER leadership framework built around three sustainability components: infrastructure, resources, and culture. When guided and implemented as a coordinated system of integrated activities by a campus OER Committee or leadership group, the framework positions colleges to sustain OER well beyond their current state or grant funding initiatives.

    We know that OER saves students money. What other differences can OER make for students? How does this relate to equity? Learn about the differences OER can make for all students, especially those that are historically under-served by the higher education system. This webinar is designed for OER Liaisons, but is open to all.

  • Accessiblity of Resources - Powerpoint from March 7 2019 OERL Webinar
  • This webinar will discuss strategies to help you identify if a resource is accessible. It will include a discussion of basic things to look for as well as online accessibility checker tools. This webinar is designed for OER Liaisons, but is open to all.
  • Monday, April 8, 1:00pm:  A Critical Collaboration – Working with your Bookstore to Make OER Available Archived Webinar Links to an external site.
  • Adopting OER is only one step in making such resources available to students. When, where, and how are students informed about accessing OER course resources? Collaborating with the bookstore can help us inform students about digital requirements, print options, and the availability of other course materials. What strategies are being used at different colleges to inform students about OER textbook requirements for classes? Join us for a discussion of how to work with your bookstore to ensure timely and accurate communication about OER resources. This webinar is for OER Liaisons only.

  • LibreText, housed at UC Davis, states that its mission is to”…develop an easy-to-use online platform for the construction, customization, and dissemination of open educational resources (OER) to reduce the burdens of unreasonable textbook costs to our students and society.” Join LibreText’s Executive Director to learn about what LibreText has to offer. This webinar is designed for OER Liaisons but is open to all.
  • Thursday, April 25, 1:00 PM:  Printing Solutions for OER Archived Webinar Links to an external site.
  • OER is free digitally but what options and are available when students (and instructors) prefer print versions? Sometimes print is needed for accessibility accommodation. Challenges and solutions for printing will be covered with specific examples from CCCs. This webinar is designed for OER Liaisons but is open to all.
