STEM Summary

This module covered different instructional and assessment barriers to the learning process. These barriers include the use of textbooks, study sheets, websites, lectures, and videos. It is important to note that some STEM content may need to be reformatted before it can be used by all students. Tests, quizzes, papers, lab reports, and homework assignments may need to be altered to allow students with disabilities to properly input their work and solutions.

Additionally, this module went over the recommended software for creating and working with accessible math. We briefly explored the differences between MathML and LaTex encoding.

Are you able to...

  • Identify common instructional and assessment barriers for students with disabilities who are using technology?
  • Based on the student's screen reader's perspective, describe why MathML is ideal over other formatting options?

If you are unable to answer the questions above, please revisit this module before continuing!
