Canvas STEM Overview

Student-driven process

It’s important to know when to change instructional content into an accessible format. The solution will depend on the following:

  • How often students interact with the content
  • What specific accommodations students need

Due to the nature of Canvas, students with disabilities will likely require additional accommodations, including the use of a Scribe during class, tactile graphics, or other conversion-based services.

This module will explore how Canvas’ Rich Content Math Editor may create limitations for some students, best practices, and briefly discuss when creating an accessible Microsoft Word document is an appropriate solution.

At the end of this module, you should be able to:

  • Use Canvas’ Rich Content Math Editor to create accessible STEM content.
  • Explain when creating an accessible Word doc would be beneficial for specific accommodations.
