Requesting a LibreTexts Instructor Account

Once you have found a LibreTexts resource you plan to use, you may adapt it to meet your teaching style and classroom needs. Before you begin you must have a LibreTexts account with instructor access to create your own copy of the resource that you can modify. This includes editing pages, uploading content, and remixing customized textbooks.

As of October 22, 2023, LibreTexts accounts are in the midst of a transition. Once all elements of the transition are complete, users will enjoy the benefits of "LibreOne", a single sign-on that allows users to use one account to access various tools within LibreTexts. Individuals who already have a LibreTexts account are encourage to read more about LibreOne Links to an external site. and to look for "Already have an account? Sign in Links to an external site." when accessing LibreTexts.

Account Setup


Creating a LibreTexts account with instructor access is a two-step process, creating an account is step 1 and providing the information to verify your instructor status is step 2.

Step 1: Select a Method to Register for a LibreOne account

Navigate to the Register for a LibreOne Account Links to an external site. page (one.libretexts.org/register) and either create an account by specifying an email and password or register with your existing Google or Microsoft account. In order to simplify verification of your faculty status, please use your college email. In other words, if your college email is provided by Google or Microsoft, use please select the "Continue with Google" or "Continue with Microsoft" option.

Step 2A: Verifying Your Email (Create Account) and Instructor Status

If you opt to provide an email and a password to create an account you will be required to verify your email by providing a six-digit verification code that will be sent to the specified email. After providing the verification code you will be asked to provide your name and then given the option to indicate that you are an instructor. "To verify instructor status you must provide a link to a web page showing your faculty status. Links to your institution's web page are NOT sufficient. A URL that shows that you are an instructor is needed." Be sure that the URL you provide is a public one.

Step 2B: Verifying Your Email (Registration with Google or Microsoft) and Instructor Status

Step 2: Request Instructor access.

Clicking the Login button will display a pop-up menu where you can request instructor access Links to an external site..

  • Specify one LibreTexts Library to use as your home library (content you create can be moved to other libraries and you can use resources that are housed in other libraries).
  • Enter the name of your college.
  • Provide a URL to your college's website that shows your name as an instructor/teacher/faculty member.

Upon approval, you should receive a notification from LibreTexts Conductor. It can take a few business days to receive verification. Please check your junk/spam folder if you do not receive the verification email.

Library Log in


Once your Instructor access is approved, log in to LibreTexts Links to an external site. and select a library from the drop-down menu. This one-minute video demonstrates the process.

Sign in to that library by entering your login credentials in the toolbar and clicking Sign in. If you have forgotten your password, hover your cursor over the "door" symbol next to the sign in button and select to have a reset password link sent to you. You will know that you are logged in as an Instructor when the bar at the top of the page (where you logged in) changes from gray to black and your name appears instead of the sign in prompt.
