Clarifying the Path: The Basics

The principle "Clarifying the Path" requires faculty to review their programs and provide tools for students to understand the program requirements and steps they must take to be graduated in a reasonable amount of time. Tools such as "meta-majors" and program maps give students more information about what careers and areas of interest may be reflected in an academic program as well as a realistic expectation of which courses should be taken, in what order, and in what time frame. A college that engages in work around clarifying the path might also look into curricular solutions such as personal development and career exploration coursework in credit or noncredit.
