Teaching Demonstrations Model Activity, Resources, and Tools
What MODEL ACTIVITY could we use?
Below is an example of one activity you may use or tailor to your local campus or district to design processes to evaluate TEACHING DEMONSTRATIONS with an equity, diversity, and inclusion lens:
Equitable Teaching Strategies Training: What to Look For in a Teaching Demo
- Provide training for committee members on equitable teaching strategies. Use sample scenarios and discuss possible responses, emphasizing the difference between "right answers" versus evaluating through an equity lens with multiple responses.
- Develop a rubric for observations of effective and promising equity practices to evaluate candidate's equity mindedness. Equity and learner-centered rubric with guided questions (e.g., describes the outstanding equitable practices in each of the teaching demos).
