What MODEL ACTIVITY could we use?

Below is an example of one activity you may use or tailor to your local campus or district to begin designing a FINALIST SELECTION PROCESS with equity, diversity, and inclusion in hiring:

Recommendations for Board of Trustees Review Process

  1. Each term or year, the Board of Trustees should be provided with a demographic breakdown of aggregate hiring pools by class (faculty, staff, administrative) and the same breakdown of remaining candidates invited to interview and sent to second level interview.
  2. At the same time, the Board of Trustees should be provided with current demographics of employees, students, and service area and the HR budget and staffing levels as a discussion item (not on the consent agenda). Discussion of an evidence-based and equity-minded approach to hiring should be a focus to ensure a diverse faculty.
