What to Expect in This Course
We are happy to have you in this course!
Here's how the course will work and what you can expect over the next 11 weeks:
Weeks 1 - 8 (September 7 - October 31)
- The syllabus outlines the topics and due dates for the course.
- You will work through the models progressively starting with this orientation module.
- Expect to spend approximately three hours a week interacting with course content. In most cases there is more than three hours of content. We encourage you to interact with the resources on each page however viewing the resources is not required.
- Each week you will complete assignments, quizzes, and/or discussion posts.
- If you do not earn a completion upon your first submission of an assignment or discussion post, we will leave feedback. You are encouraged to apply the feedback and resubmit the assignment.
- Three opportunities for office hours are available. These are optional but we encourage you to try and attend one each week.
- You will need to earn "completion" on all assignments in the Course to continue in the Certificate.
Weeks 9 - 11 (November 1 - November 21)
- If you have successfully completed the first eight weeks of the course, meaning you have completed all the required assignments, quizzes, and discussions, you will be given an opportunity to work on a hands on project relating to some specific aspect of OER.
- The hands on portion of the course will last three weeks.
- At the end of the course participants will record and caption an openly licensed lightning talk or TedTalk style video summarizing their experience and what they have learned, which may be archived on the OERI website for future professional development.
- You will get your certificate after successfully completing the mentoring project and video.
