Navigating licensing can be challenging. However, if you learn a bit about the basics you will be better able to make informed decisions when selecting materials for your class. In this module you will learn how to do the following:
- Distinguish between various forms of protected and open licenses
- Recognize the different Creative Commons Licenses, their uses, and limitations
- Apply proper attribution to a Creative Commons work
- Apply an open license to your own work

Assignments
The assignments for this module:
- Quiz - Licensing. This quiz will check your understanding of the Creative Commons Licenses and Fair Use.
- Exercise - OER Literature Review. This section of the course consists of a literature review of OER research focusing on textbook costs, efficacy of OER, perception of OER or other related studies. By sharing these reviews we will help other users determine if reading the full article would be helpful.
- Discussion - Licensing. This discussion is our opportunity to discuss some areas of confusion around licensing.
