Position Selection Process Model Activity, Resources, and Tools

What MODEL ACTIVITY could we use?

Below is an example of one activity you may use or tailor to your local campus or district to begin a POSITION SELECTION PROCESS for equity, diversity, and inclusion in hiring:

Using DataMart for Faculty and Student Diversity Data

  1. Go to DataMart site Links to an external site.
  2. Specify your college
  3. Select the last four available fall terms (e.g., Fall 2015 to Fall 2019)
  4. Click on “View Report”
  5. Select “Gender” and “Ethnicity” at the bottom
  6. Click on “Update Report”
  7. Export the data to Excel or CSV format
  8. Use Excel tools to represent longitudinal data into graphics (e.g., bar charts, line charts, or pie charts)
  9. Review the data and graphics with the following reflective prompts:
    • What does the data tell us?
    • What does the data tell us about gender and ethnic/racial representation?
    • What are the trends in the longitudinal data?
    • How does our department contribute to this data?
    • How do district, college, and departmental policy, procedures, and practice inform what we are seeing in the data?
