What MODEL ACTIVITY could we use?
Below is an example of one activity you may use or tailor to your local campus or district to begin your COMMITTEE TRAINING for equity, diversity, and inclusion in hiring:
Recommendations for Committee Training
- Provide training on implicit bias in all modalities (e.g., f2f, remote/online)
- Provide training and practice on how to disrupt implicit bias
- Provide training on how to have discussions about equitizing traditional concepts of merit and fit as committees form consensus on evaluation criteria
- Provide training on how to write a job description, how to create interview questions, and how to evaluate the 2nd minimum qualification throughout the search process
