There are still a number of myths surrounding Open and OER. This is our opportunity to discuss some of these myths or points of confusion.

Your original post

Identify a myth or point of confusion you've heard from colleagues about OER.  Or, identify a myth you may have believed prior to this course. Some examples of myths are below; these are meant to help you formulate your own discussion post. 

  • OER are not as high quality as for-profit textbooks.
  • Adding an OER to a course outline jeopardizes articulation.
  • OER projects are not sustainable.
