Dialogue Model Activity, Resources, and Tools
What MODEL ACTIVITY could we use?
Below is an example of one activity you may use or tailor to your local campus or district to begin a DIALOGUE PROCESS for equity, diversity, and inclusion in hiring:
Job Announcement Search
- Review session outcomes: Faculty will be reviewing the college website and the posting of a full-time faculty position.
- Present the Scenario: Imagine you are a first-generation, racially minoritized faculty member. Review your college's Employment Opportunities webpage. Find a faculty posting and assess the criteria on the Job Announcement Activity Checklist.
- Small Group Debrief: Discuss the following questions: What were the assumptions you had while doing the activity? Does the posting clearly identify the mission of the college and the role of the faculty member in advancing the mission? Are there any desired or required qualifications that may act as barriers?
- Share-out: What were the assumptions you had while doing the activity? Does the posting clearly identify the mission of the college and the role of the faculty member in advancing the mission? Are there any desired or required qualifications that may act as barriers?
- Closing: Facilitator summarizes collective learning and provides closing comments.
