Recommendation for Next Level Interview Principles, Guiding Questions, and Equity Framework
What should be our fundamental PRINCIPLE?
When beginning your RECOMMENDATION PROCESS for second or any subsequent interviewing, use the following principles:
- Principle 1: Consideration of the candidates' holistic view of students from diverse backgrounds
- Principle 2: Recommendations clearly articulating candidates' strengths and weaknesses in actualizing equity and framing teaching or student services in culturally-responsive methods and philosophies
What GUIDING QUESTIONS should we use?
As you design guidelines for the RECOMMENDATION PROCESS, ask the following questions:
- Have we made room to incorporate our feedback on evaluating the candidates' ability to connect to our diverse student backgrounds in our ranking and decision-making process?
- How does this information get to the vice presidents, president, or administrators involved in subsequent interviews?
- Do we have a clear list of strengths and weaknesses to give to the administrators completing a second level interview?
Which EQUITY FRAMEWORK foundations should focus our work?
Use the following equity foundations to frame your RECOMMENDATION PROCESS:
I | Evidence based | Regular review of disaggregated data to inform change |
II | Race-conscious | Critical and reflective of color-evasive ideology |
V | Equity advancing | Willing to assess own practice and accountable to closing equity gaps |
